Company of Thieves !

I saw this band at CMJ in October. First I saw them play acoustic and was blown away. Then I saw them again a day later electrified and I was equally amazed.

Do yourself a favor and download this free mp3 of their single "Oscar Wild"

Even though the last two weeks of anticipating the Super Bowl seemed like Pittsburgh had already won, when the game was finally over I could not believe it!

I watched the game at a friend's house in the South Side and preceded to run into the streets after the game. The riot cops were out in full effect. I didn't see anything too ridiculous going on though.

Today I went Downtown, thinking I'd get to see some of the parade before class and found out that our classes were canceled. The parade route went right there our 'campus' making it pretty much impossible to get to classes on either side of the fences. I'm glad I got to see the parade though, it was cold but definitely worth experiencing something that will go down in our city's history.

I got a ton of awesome pictures and video from this incredible weekend but my internet is working very slowly so uploading has been a problem. I pretty much tried to troubleshoot every possible option with little success so I'll be making the call to Comcast customer service soon.

Although I am proud and excited for the Superbowl win I'm pretty much finished hearing about it on the news...

I need to start going to class now.

I will be working and going to a ton of awesome shows in the next weeks. Ben Folds, Wild Light, Tapes N Tapes, Airborne Toxic Event and more! Come and hang out with me.

My friends are scattered around the world!

I just Way To Normal: Stems and Seeds in the mail and it's pretty sweet. It has the whole album remixed plus some bonus tracks plus the entire 'fake' leak.

Also I got the new Franz Ferdinand, Fray, Deerhunter, and Bruce Springstein but have yet to give a good listen to them. Not expecting too much from the Fray but I'm excited to listen to the rest.

I bought the Deerhunter LP expecting it to be a normal vinyl record, turns out it came on WHITE vinyl with a copy of the album on CD too!

I have a lot of work work and school work to take care of in the next few days!

That's about it!

Oh and Congrats to Bingo!!!!!

New Music!

When I was in New York for CMJ I had a chance to attend the Black Seal Records showcase. It was at Electric Lady Studios, the studio Jimi Hendrix designed and where he recorded his last songs.

Below is a link to a video from the show of Cory Chisel's set. You can watch the entire set for free. You cant see me but I was sitting right in front of him. It was a great time.

Miraculous!!

Today, while on the phone with the new financial aid director at Point Park University, I found out that since my grades are good I will be able to register for this semester!! They told me that they are going to give me a special "Point Park Grant" which will basically pay off my entire balance, all I have to do is pay like 90 bucks for something...

This is truly a miracle.

To bad they waited until now to tell me this. I am hoping I can manage to talk some teachers into letting me in their classes. I'm headed down there tomorrow for a meeting!

Thanks Point Park...turns out you're kind of cool after all.

So I woke up about 3 - 4 times last night. Each time I was dreaming about something different, all completely ridiculous.

I remember in one I was trying to escape from a building full of "Big Daddys" from the game Bioshock. It was pretty strange and creepy but not out of the ordinary since I just beat the game yesterday.

I also dreamed that it I was dressed up like Batman (the childrens Halloween costume, not Dark Knight style) at my home. This kid that my mom babysat a long time ago came and picked me up (I guess he learned how to drive since 3rd grade). I'm pretty sure we were going to some concert or party at my friend TJ's house. But the house wasn't in Castle Shannon like it normally would have been, it was across the street from Jeff's long drive way and house. We parked in Jeff's drive way and somehow the kid's mom appeared. The kid was having trouble parking so I parked the car. For some reason he had a pair of my jeans and was looking through the pockets and found all kinds of drugs and crazy shit.

Then I woke up to my mom telling me that our dog Ringo got away, as I got dressed she came back in and told me they found him. I went back to sleep. I'm not sure if that was a dream or not.

Each time I woke up I was shivering and covered in sweat. I'm thinking it has to do with me being pretty sick and combining too many different drugs.

Good Morning! : )

TOMORROW!

The Future is Unwritten!
[info]lookinf0raction
All in all this year wasn't much different from any other year I've had the pleasure of living. There were a lot of great times weighed equally with hard and frustrating ones. I am slowly learning that the situations that happen to you aren't nearly as important as the people you surround yourself with. In my case, I have a ton of amazing friends that made this entire year extremely fun and exciting.

In 2008, I turned 21...

...managed to get 3 A's and a B for the Fall 08 semester...

...went to the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City and made 50 new friends.

...drank, watched amazing bands play, hung out with said amazing bands at Electric Lady Studios... (a recording studio in NYC that Jimi Hendrix designed and recorded some of his last songs and the likes of Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers recorded)

...looked at, moved, cleaned, fixed, and moved out of my first house...

...sang karaoke for the first time. I chose "I Got You (I Feel Good)" by James Brown...

...had my car towed more than I can count...

...did a 360 going about 50mph in the snow on the highway...

...Saw the first of my friends get married...

...pretending I was half of a giant whale's vagina and birthed a co-worker in New York...

...got two new tattoos...

...grew my first playoff beard for the Penguins...

...saw Rx Bandits with Maps & Atlases and Portugal. The Man , The Bronx, Girl Talk w/ Grand Buffet, Alkaline Trio w/ The Fashion, Bob Dylan w/ The Black Keys, Gnarls Barkley, and The Roots...

...Played a ton of fun shows with Unarmed including a hilarious trip to Columbus...

...drank Red Strip with Eric and Pollice in the summer...

Every new years I, like the rest of the world, start to think of the future. And every year we say "this is the year we'll get together" or "this year we need to do this!" Most of the time our hopes and plans for the future tend to fade once reality sets back in and the holidays end. We'll never stop planning or hoping so I guess all we can do this year is the same.

Here's to the new year! with a little more follow-through!

Happy New Year!

Needed a break.

Now I have to do some shopping.

What I'm Listening To

Has anyone heard of this dude Derek Trucks? He's a guitar player who's played with Eric Clapton and the Allman Brothers. If you're into amazing guitar players then I would definitely suggest checking him out asap. Here's a cool link.

I've been listening to Glas Vegas for a few months now and I'm started to see their popularity growing. I'm pretty sure this band will get huge. Their debut record is awesome. Check out this link for a free MP3 of the song "Daddy's Gone", personal favourite.

Today will be another fun filled day of sitting at my computer doing work reports and my final paper for school.

I'm about 1/2 way done with the paper that's due Wednesday. I plan to get my work work done and then try and complete as much as I can today and tomorrow night so I have time on Tuesday to study for my last Accounting test. I'm trying to take all this as serious as possible because I don't even know if I'll be able to go back to school next semester. I would imagine if I was guaranteed back at school in January I would be doing most of my paper Tuesday night. I wish I would have listened to my teacher and done a little bit of it over the entire semester!

2:30 Wednesday, will mean a lot stress no longer with me and the start of my holiday.

Things currently on my mind:
Papers
Works
Old House
The future of my educated life
and the lack of women in my life.

Get in the game...
[info]lookinf0raction
Got my car back on Friday in working condition! It only cost me about $100, thankful for that.

We're going to have to pay for some damages at the old (previously new) house and people to get it cleaned. If he doesn't rent the place by next month we'll probably have to pay the rent again, which would suck. But for the must part it hasn't been too bad, thankful for this too.

School is still questionable on account of I haven't found anyone to help me with a loan. Hopefully I'll get it straightened out soon though.

School this semester has been going pretty well. I just finished my last Finance powerpoint presentation on the Future of the Music Industry (have to present on Wed). I also have a pretty huge paper due next week for that class that still has to be done. Not worried about it though.
I only have one science exam (don't have to take the final :] ) left and one accounting exam.
Anxiously waiting for break.

Work is getting cold.

Who's excited about the Watchmen movie?

SO

I'm in the process of trying to move back to Green Tree after 2 of our roommates abandoned us. The house was probably the worst house I've ever been in but it would have been cool to actually live there for awhile. I'm hoping the Russian Landlord will not sue us either for backing out on our lease. But there is NO way Eric and I could have paid for everything ourselves and it is really hard finding people to move into a shit hole. There is a hole in the wall and 2 small broken windows but compared to the condition the house was already in those issues are nothing. I'm not really expecting to get our deposit back because of that but it would be nice.

To make things harder my car is being fixed. Moving is proving to be difficult with no truck or car but the I've gotten most of my stuff out of the there.

To add to the stress in my life I just found out that I won't be able to register for classes next semester until I pay the $2737.50 balance on my account. It's almost impossible to be a student and get a loan nowadays. I would totally be down to just make monthly payments but Point Park will not let me register until the balance is $250, which is fucking shit.

SO to recap...
No house, no car, no school, no money. BUT I'm happy that I still have an awesome job that will continue to pay and allow me to see cool shows.

Saturday is Manchester Orchestra/Kevine Devine , for now Jeffunarmed is my +1 but he will probably not be able to come, so if you would like to enjoy a cool free show this Saturday with a poor boy lemme know.

I'm pretty sure once I finish all my school work and finals that I will feel a lot better about things.
